imho: HEI advantage is maintenance Free Reliability, which is a major improvement over stock. Easy to do and worth the trouble if you don't care about NCRS.
Any seat of the pants improvement is most likely a placibo effect, unless your points were bad or out of adjustment.
But hey, that Corvette WOT placibo effect is better than drugs!

I have been carrying a spare HEI module in the car since I was stranded because the module went bad. You could always get a crappy set of points to work, but when a module goes bad - you're done.
