Default Ground Screw to Core Support Small Block

1975 Auto with Air.
Does anyone have handy the screw that holds the ground in this image?
http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/r...on/ground9.jpg

I didn't have enough left of the core support I removed to rescue that (and intermittent (usually) bad headlights are now explained).

Since I don't have the old one, I can't find a new one, can someone obtain for me a length / threadcount / diameter so I can stop by the Fastenal shop next week?

I have the same question for the screw / post holding the center of the A/C Condensor to the front of the radiator core support, but can't find a picture of it. This one wears a little rubber grommet that I have managed to get (thanks Willcox!), but nobody had the screw...

Glad to see my pictures being used. Unfortunately I can't help you with the screw size. I used what I had left of self threading screws which fit the terminal hole. It was a coarse thread and maybe 1/2" long.

Hi ps,
Here a picture of the screw from my 71.
Often ground connections have a star washer, but in this case there isn't one.
I'd call the bolt 3/16" diameter.
Regards,
Alan

It's a sheet metal screw, course thread. Look for something large enough to fit the harness and the hole in the support. Try 1/4" 14 x 1/2".

Nick - Thanks for having the post with all the great pictures of grounds, they were invaluable, I've referenced that thread a few times!

Alan - Great shots, that gives me a good starting place for a Fastenal or Cheapo-Depot run if Willcox doesn't have any around there. You don't have access to the A/C Condensor bolt/screw do you the one with the rubber grommet as vibration damper at the bottom center of the core support?

Easy Mike - Believe me, I went through every box of screws in the house, workshop, and garage, the only one that was close was long enough to punch a hole through the backside of the radiator too!

Hop down to any well stocked hardware store and find a shorter one in open stock. Half of the gotta have little things on my 68 came from my True Value Hardware Store.

Ok.. I did some research on this this morning. I have 1 I removed from a 79 core support this morning. It looks the same but oddly enough I had to use a 10mm to pull it out so my guess is the one I have is from a later car like a 79 - 82. So at some point GM changed this.

On 1975 The lower condenser bolts were just a standard looking bolt and used a flat washer between it and the grommet.

The lower bolts, 9420065 came up on a google search at this link.. I'm sure you can get these cheaper if you look hard enough. http://www.amkproducts.com part number b-12108

The Smaller bolt used to bolt the strap to the condenser was 3027371 was hex 10-32 and used by all kinds of GM cars up till around 1981. I found no other info on this bolt yet.

So far this is what I found on the upper bolts from the 1972 gm parts book.
The right upper was p/n 180086 BOLT (5/16-18 x 1 5/8)
The left upper was p/n 180084 BOLT (5/16-18 X 1 1/4)

Still working on that ground bolt.. in standard.

Update: I've found the ground screw and have added them in a kit to our site tonight.
