So when I get to replacing my fuel sending unit here in a few weeks on the 70 (unit is on the bottom) do I actually need the fancy sending unit removal tool, or is there a sure fire way to get the thing out with something else? Thanks.
Hammertime...and a chisel, no problems. Do you a new O ring and maybe a little oil on reimstalling. You can damage the old one removing it, and they're cheap.
Hi B,
I agree that a screw-driver and small hammer does the job.
Before you take the existing one off, take a CLOSE look at how far the 'seating ramps' need to be turned before they hit the 'stops'.
It's possible to think you have the new one turned all the way on, but if it's not at the 'stops' you may have a slow leak.

Alan

There was a thread not too long ago about that very issue, however the leak was anything but slow.
