My car is a 1974 with a 1965 396 big block. I was originally going with a stock hood so I went with a stock low rise iron Chevy intake manifold off a caprice. However I wound up using a an L 88 hood so I am thinking of installing an aluminum Edelbrock Performer 2-0 high rise which I already have. I know I have to get a new choke rod for the divorced but everything else looks pretty straightforward. I do have a couple of questions though where I could use some advice.
If you look at the first picture of the motor below you will see that I have a sensor for the radiator fans in one outlet. The other is used for the heater hose. The Edelbrock manifold does not have an outlet for the heater hose where the Chevy outlet is located but it has two outlets on either side of the thermostat housing. I could run the heater hose to the outlet on the other side of the thermostat housing but I was wondering if there is a fitting that has the ability to accept both the fan sensor and the heater hose? Any thoughts/suggestions on that?
The other question I have is about the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carb. It looks like I will need a different line since the carb will be lifted by several inches. Any thoughts on the right fuel line to use? Thanks for your help.
I've never seen a dual outlet fitting that made any sense. I can't think of a reason not to use both of these fittings. You will have to replace the fuel line, and as always, a metal line is recommended, rubber hose will deteriorate with time, and can easily rub through. Corvettes are notorious for hood/carb clearance problems, be very aware of this as you choose your hood/air filter/intake, good luck and keep us posted.
