Default Dash lights

None of the dash lights work in my 69. I have a wiring diagram and an A I M. The wiring diagram shows power direct from the fuse box. Question: where does the power actually come from. Is it switched somewhere? In general, how is it powered and controlled?

The power for the head light switch comes from the orange wire and is hot all the time.
The tail light fuse feeds the headlight rheostat, turning the **** CCW turns on the interior lights. Confirm that fuse is good.

If you have no dash lights jumper from "Courtesy Light Fuse" to the "Instrument Light Fuse"
if the bulbs light up the rheostat is bad.

The ground for the center gauge cluster is through the center terminal of the water temp gauge, the other end of that 14 gauge black wire connects to the A pillar on the drivers side just above the dash.

Thanks. I am replacing the switch and the ground wire to the pillar is corroded. I will fix that too. Also will do the jumper test to make sure. Great help. Thanks again
