I sold my 79 all black with alot of cool add ons(no fuzzy dice) to a guy who really bugged me until I sold it to him.
I even upped the price and he didn't care.
When he handed me the $8500 bucks I thought I could really get me an old muscle car that I wanted. Boy was I wrong
Have you seen the prices of cars latley?
Double $8500 and that will get you a 67 camaro with a 327 power glide.
You can't even touch a Chevelle for that.
I really thought I could get me a 67-8 camaro, color of my choice non air,4-speed. I even thought of a 69-72 t-top vette 4-speed no such luck
Well I think I screwed myself this time.
I wouldn't have sold it if I new this was what was coming,I really liked the car and fixed it up really nice.
:cry
Dang, I wish I just parked some of the cars that I drove over the years. They would be worth some money now. Here is the short list:
1968 merc cougar (hypo 302)
1971 Chevelle vert (wimpy 307)
72 and 73 cuda (both 340s) one died in a tree contraversy
47 chevy aero-sedan (staight six) I raced a deisel tow truck once AND LOST
68 chrysler imperial (440)
couple of 72 caddy coupe devilles
two 79 Z28s
2 87 mustang 5.0s (I used to drink a lot!!)
bunch of monster trucks
I know what you mean, though. Anything from the 70's is worth some dough now. I am trying to get my hands on a '76 (not a cosworth) vega that my Grandmother drove 26000 miles before she died. That would be a fun project.....
8500 bucks? What was wrong with the car? If that car is as perfect as the sig foto (and has working AC), it would be worth a lot more than that around here -- at least 12K!
Shark values are going up. There was even a comment in the current issue of Automobile Magazine that people are starting to consider the C3's as classics...
Man, i feel sorry for ya. We all make mistakes sometimes. You could try to find you another 79. But if you do that, you might as well look forward to the work you're going to have to put into it to make it as nice as your previous one
BTW, 67-69 Camaro's are getting expensive, but there are tons of them. No problems finding them. A guy down the road from me has 6 himself, including two verts. Looking at the Auto Trader, the ones around here are going in the 20's. One of my Dad's friends has a fully restored 68 Camaro show car that's race ready. One nice ride. We are taking it up to the Super Chevy Show for him in mid July up at Indianapolis. He's looking to get $60,000. Has turned down two $30,000 offers in the last two weeks
Maybe it just depends on the market. I have two friends in the Portland OR metro area that recently picked up 69 camero's for 8,000 each. Both in great shape. I firmly believe that if you look you will find.... Good Luck and happy hunting.
My husbands greatest regret....He sold his 71 442 for 950.00 in the mid 70's to buy a new VEGA! UGH!!!! He also had a 69 prev to that that he paid 1100.00 for off of a car lot in 70, that he sold for nothing too. Now he just says Hmmmmm a lot.
Our 73 Coupe was a business trade and so far we have .50 cents into it(for screws and a tank of gas bringing it home on a trailer). I know the debit side will go up very shortly. :)
Heres the deal with the car.
I bought it from a insurance middle man.
It had an under hood fire and destroyed the air conditioning and some wiring. the adjuster tried to open the hood with a screw driver and cracked the hood, all the front end had the paint burnt off it and what was left I scraped off with a razor blade.
But the paint turned out perfect so that was alright.
I added an intake, carb, radator shroud,4-core,and detailed it out real nice under the hood.new seat covers, carpet and stereo and speakers, and tires,Flowmasters, tires. But I still came out several thousands ahead in the deal.
And it did have a rebuilt title

Re: regrets after selling car (Tim H)
I wouldn't regret it as a bad business deal, sounds like you actually came out pretty good. I'd be bummed for sentimental reasons, but don't look back. If you really want a 67 -69 camaro, just look. Now is the time to sell a car, not buy. If you can hold out til Sept / Oct, prices will get more reasonable. :seeya
Where are all the guys that say you can pick up a good plastic bumper C-3 for 4-5K? I believe ever car I have ever sold way to cheap, 69 El Camino, 70 Chevelle, 76 Camaro, 69 Chev PU to name a few. I could not buy any of them back for less than 8K. If I think about it to much I have probably paid way to much for any car I ever bought. If you can wait and find some poor guy that needs money fast, but when I find a car I just have to have I can't wait very long. Who ever thought that a 60s Impala would be in such demand. I remember they were every where and they were a poor mans car. In the late seventies you could by them anywhere for 200 bucks. Mid seventy Camaros are still cheap and in a few years will not be so cheap, just be sure an buy new door hinges first.
I'll sell you my 71 for oh.......lets say.........$50,000. Does that sound fair?
Sorry to hear it but you'll bounce back and find something. Just keep your eyes open and something will fall right in your lap. Stay in the Vette family though even if its a C4 (not that there is anything wrong with them, I love C4's)

Come to the Iola Old Car Show in Iola Wisconsin and you can pick something up. http://www.iolaoldcarshow.com I think is the link. I'm going, we should have a Corvette Forum meeting there maybe? Good show and swap meet. I hear from many people that they will buy parts and cars there and bring them to Indiana and almost double their money!
