Okay, today was my first test drive day after a very very long resto.
Car is not all together in the sense that the doors still need to be mounted and such, but I planned on a short test drive to see how my alignment job came out.
First was a short drive in my street. Still freezing and she wasn't warmed up. Noticed a off idle flat spot. Tried a lot of things but couldn't get it going away. Then decided to be a little less gentle on the throttle and it seemed to slow down, even moving sideways. When I stopped a blue cloud past me and I smelled burned rubber. I looked back and there were 2 black tire stripes of about 10 meter. Big grin.
After dark, I couldn't resist to do a drive around the block.
Well, let me put it like this : I'll have to be very carefull with it.
As for driving manner's I felt like she was a little to darty, too quick steering response somehow. Have to look into that.
4.125 bore, 3.250 crank, 6.250 rods, 10,6/1 CR, Dart pro 1 215's ported, currently a Victor JR and Holley 650 dp, cam is 248/250 at .05. Going to efi itb's when the engine is broken in.
I put the seats in just for the drive (after I took the picture that is). Doors were not in and it's freezing here, so the drive was ...well....cold It looked like a very sleek, fast dune buggy.
Big bore short stroke and a solid roller. My kind of motor!
When you get bored throw 12.5:1 at it and another 10-15 deg duration
Must say, I went up to about 4-5000 rpm, and she was not gasping for air, very comfortable up there, smooth. I think she'll easily run 7000 (or more). Much above 7500 and I'm in the danger zone due to the stainless and heavier valves. Would need to go to titanium and lots of $$$. 12.5 is ok at low rpm, but with street gas i'll run into detonation once I'm going into the better VE range.
