Default Vintage Air driver's side vent

IS it just me or does Vintage Air blow? The kit comes with a piece of hard duct to route air from the unit to the driver's side vent. See Pic.

The problem is that the housing for the courtesy light which also has mount screw tabs is in the direct path of the duct.

Even with the courtesy light bracket removed, the duct boss which attaches to the vent is so short that it is impossible to maintain a seal with the duct attached to the steering column mount as per the instructions. The duct sticks down as well.

If any of you have found the magical secret to the hard duct, I'd love to hear it. In the meantime, I'm drinking a Coors Light so I can use the can to scab enough hose together to loop it over the column and attach to the vent. I thought about cutting the hard duct and shaping it,etc, but was not sure if it is compatible with fiber glass, besides, beer is good when you are venting. The other things I have learned in this adventure is 1) take every metal bracket and filler plate straight to the powder coater. The paint on these pieces (I you can call it that) is so frail that it will fall off if you talk too loud, and 2) some of the instructions are vague and ambiguous. Do not follow the step by step as spelled out. Go through a dry run before you start to cut things. I'm glad I was sober enough to catch some things.

i used a piece of flex duct. zip tied it under the steering column, and it tucks up enough so that it isn't in the way of my size 12's and can't be seen.

I had the same thing on mine. I didn't reinstall the trip meter reset since the duct was in the way. I just let it hang under the dash. It's on my list of little things I need to do but out of sight out of mind so it hasn't been done yet.
