Default Intake leakage

I have been fighting an oil leak from the front and rear valley gasket area on my 78 Silver Anniversary.

I installed a new upper end gasket set last summer. When I pulled it apart the original valley gaskets were squashed way past where they should be. The new set did exactly the same thing... My car runs well and the intake seems to seal well but the new valley gaskets are leaking like the ones I replaced. The big issue is that the rear leaks into the bell housing and has 'greased' my clutch, and likely wrecked it.

I'm getting ready to put my Vette back on the road for the 2013 season. I don't have a repair/modification history on this car so I'm on my own.

Questions:
Is there a 'special' gasket set for the (10:1) L82?
If someone 'milled' or 'Deck sanded' the heads, does that lower the intake causing this condition?
How can tell if I have the correct intake manifold.

You dont use the end gaskets. You put a large bead of silicone, let it set for a few minutes, and then install the intake.

No it's just about any car that uses those rubber end gaskets.

For that to work well and not leak, you MUST get the block end rails and the gasket surfaces on the underside of the intake manifold squeaky clean. Give them a last wipe of lacquer thinner to be certain.

Also, use only RTV 'Black' gasket sealant. And, install the new 'side' gaskets, run a bead on each end rail, and make sure the ends of those beads just make contact with the ends of the [side] intake gaskets.

Carefully install the intake [so things don't slide around on you] and hand install all the bolts...DO NOT TORQUE THEM YET. Let all set overnight then torque the bolts up in stages.

How can tell if I have the correct intake manifold.

The correct intake manifold casting # is 458520. Also used on early
79's. The date code is on the underside. A=January- L=December
