Default Bad car deal has been resolved

Just wanted to update how the car deal has been resolved. See http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=321197 for my original post of the issue at hand.

We met this evening with several of our common friends to help us decide what the resolution should be. We both told our side of the story to the group and discussed where we both stood on the issue. He told his side first then I told my side. He wanted me to fix the car and pay for it or refund his money, he said he would let me keep 1K for the hassle. I let them know that was not an option, but would be willing to give up to $500 towards the repair of the drivetrain. He felt it wasn't enough. I offered $1500 for the engine/trans, he accepted. So, I have the hotrod engine and trans and a statement in writing what the deal is.

I know I didn't have to work with him, but I really do feel both of us are going to be much happier this way. I feel relieved that we can get on with our lives and not have any hate between us. I think that he feels since he was ready to give up 1000 and I am giving him 1500 he is really getting $2500 back. I kind of feel that since I was going to give him 500 anyway, I am really getting and engine and trans that I know nothing is wrong with for 1000, heck, I paid that much for the heads alone. The rest of the engine/trans combo is gravy!!!

Just wanted to update you all on how it turned out.

So you got a bill of sale, and the drivetrain for $1500.00? Dang boy! Anymore where that guy came from? I got a barn full of junk for him...

I am ok with the deal, I would have preferred not to have to deal with all of this. I offered to pull the engine, but I was going to do it at my house then they could transport the car back to their house to put the other engine and trans that they got in the deal back in. The car deal was for the car as it was with hotrod engine, and all original drivetrain, and all extra parts I had for that car. So, they are going to pull the engine and trans and bring it back to me.

Yes sir! I don't feel to bad about buying back the engine and trans for 1500,

Heads - 1000
TC - 350
Roller Rockers/ARP studs/pushrods/guides/lifters - 400
Intake and carb - 400
B&M Race trans - 800
4 bolt main block / 10:1 pistons - ????
Gear drive timing - ????
Chrome accessories - ????

I am happy getting it back for that price.

when i was a kid, someone told me to never sell a car to a friend; YOU WILL NEVER HEAR THE END OF IT

not your case, but it reminded me

in your case, i think everyone told him the car would be much more valuable with the original e/trans

I have sold a lot of Corvettes in my day, but you really have me confused now. Thanks for the update, anyway.

Think I will just go back to sleep.

If everyone is happy with the arrangement-then thats all that matters.
It's much nicer not to have enemies or the PITA.
Can you make sure he takes care of you engine/tranny till it's pulled? I'm not paranoid but.........
