In the close to 40 years I've driven sticks, neither I or anyone I would even consider allowing drive my cars have ever had a 'mistake'.
You depress the clutch anytime you start the car or you ensure the trans in in neural before hitting the key- It's second nature and instinctive, like closing the door or putting on your seat belt.
How do you folks tune your stick cars while working under the hood?
I just reach in and turn the key....
I guess it all comes down to your personal comfort level.
Most cars I drove as a kid had no clutch safety switches anyway.
And I don't wear a helmet to ride my bicycle either..
Just bypass it altogether-
It's just a worthless 'safety' device for folks that don't know how to drive a stick.
haha... mine's 'bypassed' cuz I forgot to put it in when I installed the pedals. And there is no way you can get your hand or arm up in there after the pedals are in. Oh well. Just remember to push the clutch in when starting.

If you can't get your hand up there with the pedals installed, how am I going to bypass this switch?
Has anyone figured out an easy way (or the best way) to change that switch? It's pretty easy to get at to bypass or jumper the connector but actually changing the switch is a different story. The hardest part looks to be the rod with the tiny clips. Can it be done by unbolting the steering column, lowering it to the seat and reaching in or does the left dash panel have to come out?

Does this "safety swtch" prevent the starter from turning over the engine? Or just keep it from getting spark? It would seem to prevent the starter from turning over so that the vehicle does not move..... but I don't really know??
The safety switch is in the circuit with the starter "S" terminal. If the clutch is not depressed or the car is not in park or neutral the starter won't crank the engine.
