Default Steering Box Help?

Changed the oil yesterday and while I was under the car I notice lots of what looks like grease or heavy oil all over the bottom of the steering box. What does this mean or what do I need to do?

There are two seals on the steering box and it sounds like the one by the pitman arm is leaking. If the steering is tight just replace the seals, if not now is the time to rebuild the box. You might want to clean the box up first and see how bad the leak is. With the repeated heating cycles ( exhaust to box) a small seep can go along way over time. :chevy

Thanks for the response. Is this something relatively easy to do? I'm no mechanic but I'm learning! :D It probably is the seal above the pitman arm as this is where the majoraty of the oil was dripping. I'm hoping I can get through the season with it like it is and make this one more addition to the winter project list. :)

To replace just the one seal is not bad. The steering box can stay in place but the pitman arm can be a real pain if you don`t have a puller. I think I would clean it up and watch it for a few days. A small seep can look real bad over time.
