Default motors out..suggestions/performance?

I have a 76 stingray smallblock 350.
the car has 47000 original miles on motor trans body. the car has been sitting at my parents beach house for the last 8 years and has only had 1,000 miles put on it from 1996-2013.

I took it out for a drive yesterday as I have it home now and the rear main is leaking and the front seal behind timing cover is aslo leaking.

so the motor is pulled and I just wanted opinions on what to do while its out.

I planned on:
edelbrock performer manifold w/stock Q-jet
edelbrock top end package?? is it worth it?
I have corvette central exhaust on the way.
better ignition?

Do you need to retain the egr and all emissions crap to make the qjet run correctly.
I plan on doing water pump and thermostat all the other stuff while its out.

So here's the final list. Motor will be done this week and then Also l how I did lol.

Block bored .30 over
Flat top pistons
Arp rod and main bolts all bolts actually will be arp
Edelbrock estreet 64cc heads
Comp cam 462. 469.
Steel roller rockers
performer eps manifold
Fluidampr
Edelbrock fuel pump
Hughes 2500 stall
aluminum radiator with dual 12" electric fans
Stant 175 stat
Billet specialties goodies

Possibly march vbelt or serpentine pulley kit
As far as carbs im not sure yet. Either 600 performer or avs 650 with electric choke
And im not sure about a new distributor or just keep the delco.
Also what about different plugs or wires or just buy new plugs same as origional. I didnt know if i ahould run something hotter since i will be around 10:1 compression

The top end package with the Performer manifold looks like it will make a significant increase. The current distributor is fine just have it performance curved. The EGR and stuff are not needed to set up the current Quad.

heres the one I was looking at http://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2022/overview/
but will the performer eps manifold fit under the hood. I believe the eps is 1/2" higher possibly

Correctly? No. For emissions purposes, yes. Do you have to pass emissions testing in your state?

my 2 cents:

new oil pump
new main and rod bearings

take block and have it tanked and install new cam bearings and freeze plugs.

re ring pistons or just buy a set of flat tops because those stock ones don't have the compression those heads and cam will want to work well.

roller rockers

this is based on trying to short cut in my youth and then re-doing it.

a little more $$ now but way more when done

Bump the compression with flat tops as mentioned, after going through the bottom end. Afr 180's and comp 276 roller. Up the rear gear and match the stall to the cam. Performer rpm or air gap rpm. You can't go wrong with afr and a roller cam, it's going to cost ya more but worth it in my opinion.

I say if you've got the time and money go for it!! That's the stuff that makes owning a vette awesome.. Customizing/Tweaking it to your liking... That is as long as your keeping it? If you keep it, drive it!!! Go out and enjoy it every chance you get!!!
Not only that!! But its the most beautiful car ever made!!!

I'm putting my L48 engine back together after a rebuild, and I was keen to keep it stock as it's the original engine, but the money I spent on reconditioning the heads and balancing the rotating assembly could have been put to better use by stroking it and getting some new aluminium heads, etc. Don't forget to keep your original stuff for whenever you sell it!

I'd personally not go avs on the carb. Either Rodchester or Holley. My hookers fit well.

The quadrajet wouldnt work with the square bore flange unless you use adapter. Holley 670 hp or ultra hp vacuum secondaries is what I'd use.

Default Don't open that motor up.

Replace the seals and maybe the intake and put the engine back in. Okay now is the time to do the heads and cam also but are u ready for this? Have u ever swapped cams before? Successfully?
If yes u can then try a set of Vortec heads and any good Comp Cams cam that matches rour compression and gearing.

Good luck,
