Default replacement carb

My quadrajunk has stuck throttle valves. It happens on wide open throttle.Tired of fooling with it.Looking at holley.I have a 350,thirty over.Nothing radical.I see holley makes a 650 thats a direct replacement for the quad.Anyone familiar with it.I wouldn't mind the dual feed 4150 but I like hardines going to the pump.Would the LT 1 factory hardines fit the 4150. I know everybody likes the quad but I'm not interested in rebuilding this one. It's a hodge podge of parts. It was rebuilt by holley. My garb is out right dangerous.Fired it up yesterday and it went wide open on start up.I know its not the open element breather. Then it started working fine.Went for a cruise.I hit third gear an van stuck again.Shut it off and coasted into a parking lot.Inspected it and couldn't get it to repeat again. That will scare the hell out of anyone.

On the LT-1 hardline it depends if the carb has dual metering blocks and if they have the same fitting size on the bowls. Plus the fuel pump may be different. You can use a after market line on the carburetor connected to stainless steel flex hose going to the pump. Are you using dual throttle springs on the Quad? Are you sure the Quad is properly mounted on the intake and that the secondary or primary throttle plates arent rubbing against something?

Have had the Holley 4175 650 CFM q jet replacement on my 78 L-82 since 1985-could not be happier with the carb! Easy to adjust, reliable, good power, excellent idle, easily rebuildable!!

Brand new dual springs.Took it off and cleaned it and put it back on.Can't duplicate on or off the car.Linkages aren't binding.Everything moves freely. It's done it before and I stomped on it and it returned. Can't see anything enterferance with the drop base air cleaner either.Unless its got some mix matched parts I'm not seeing.I have hurd when holley rebuilt them they were not thakt great.

I think Holley intentionally messed up the quadrajets they rebuilt to give them a bad reputation so people would go out and buy Holley's carbs.

If they did I probably got one.It runs ok.Nothing to write home about.I just hate spending money on a carb for tbis engine.I'm going to replace it in a couple of years with a big block. The q jet replacement carb wont be big enough for that but I have to do something in meantime.

your problem is either the base plate is wore out was improperly rebuilt.

This can cause the secondary throttle shaft to hang up, this is common if the base plate was disassembled and not properly put back together.

Scary either way...

Make sure the filter housing does not contact the carburetor linkage anywhere; do this with the car off and in park :-)

Best Regards, Jim

A 600 cfm unit meets the cfm requirments for a mild 355.... 750 would have to be jetted down to perform like a 600-650.... over carbing is a common mistake.
