Hey! Anything is possible. It just depends on how deep your wallet is.

BTW. Could you lend me some bucks before you start :D

I remember a post here a while ago about building a ZL-1. I think GM sells the rough block for $8,000 and it weighs about 100lb! It's not on their site but I think its listed in the GMPP catalog. Some guys posted that if you could find a qualified builder, you could build "just" the engine for about $25,000.

But what a street rod that'd be. :yesnod:

Copied from the Pace Performance catalogue.

12370850: ZL1 Aluminum Block.....................$5115.45
Mark IV Aluminum Block

-4.118" liners can be bored to 4.300"
-4 bolt billet caps
-Mechanical fuel pump provision
-Standard 9.800" deck height
-2 piece rear main seal
-Weighs 110 pounds
-Threaded freeze plugs

It's about twice the price of a bowtie block but it's not too bad. I'm pretty sure one could be done for $9,000 or less.

I have a line on a block for 5780.00 from GM but for the heads and such I am not sure what the complete spec's are. I have the time and the money and the L-82 powerplant that came out of the car to run with for now, But a ZL-1 clone for backup would be just the thing to feed my need for power. The search will not stop untill I have one. :reddevil
