I was working on a friends 69 the other day and the talk let the ZL-1. I was looking for the info on the powerplant and cannot find all the info I want like casting numbers and such. I want to build one for my 80 if it is possible or am I just dreaming.

Re: My Pipe Dream (James80vette)
I remember a post here a while ago about building a ZL-1. I think GM sells the rough block for $8,000 and it weighs about 100lb! It's not on their site but I think its listed in the GMPP catalog. Some guys posted that if you could find a qualified builder, you could build "just" the engine for about $25,000.
I have a line on a block for 5780.00 from GM but for the heads and such I am not sure what the complete spec's are. I have the time and the money and the L-82 powerplant that came out of the car to run with for now, But a ZL-1 clone for backup would be just the thing to feed my need for power. The search will not stop untill I have one. :reddevil
