My horn button flops around loose. I'm looking at my AIM, page 410, and trying to figure out what keeps outward pressure on the contact that the horn button attaches too. There's no outward pressure on mine. It was working fine in the past, but something must have broken along the way. On a drive the other day, the spring and eyelet fell out from behind the wheel. Those have been reinstalled. Any ideas? Oh yeah, it's a tilt/tele column.
Sorry for the inconvenience I couldn't edit the above.
You problem has to be in #7, the Upper Horn Contact. Both the horn cap and the horn spring and eyelet terminate at the Contact. Replacement Contact Assemblies and also rebuilt kits are readily available. You just have to start disassembly of the horn parts to get at cause and correct it.

Jim, thanks for that picture. it is slightly different that what's shown in the AIM. Also, the AIM doesn't show the insert on the bottom right. I have taken the horn parts apart, and couldn't figure out what was wrong. I will take another look and hoepfully be able to figure it out.
Willcox, you were posting as I was. Is the pic above, of the #7 numbered part, supposed to be one piece? Mine is in 2 pieces, so if it's supposed to only be one, I'd say I just found my problem!
Yes.. actually you have the upper and lower pieces with a insulator squeezed between. Thsi is held together by plastic rivets. You can see these in the picture above.
Thank you Willcox. Replacing the plastic rivets, to hold the upper and lower part togethter fixed the problem. I already had them on hand, but will be looking your way next time I need to place an order.
I have a 1980 corvette and am trying to determine what length to cut the aluminum pin to from the kit? The kit includes the new pin but it's too long to reinstall the other parts. The replacement kit also only had 1 shim, the original had 2 shim? Do I need 2 shims?
