Default Timing Chain Replacement

I have read many threads on replacements so far, here is my question. Does the radiator need to be removed? I just last year had it out for AC repair - what a pain! Any tips other that Water pump replacement?

No the radiator does not have to come out and buy a good quality double roller chain and gears.

I went with a cloyes single true roller to avoid block issues some blocks/double rollers have. The single roller chain compared to a cloyes double roller was a tad heavier, because the rollers are larger I can't see why it wouldn't be as good as a double. I think it was lil over $30 and for newer roller motors, but no issues so far.

No the radiator does not Have to come out. Just changed my OEM timing chain and gears to a comp cams adjustable double roller chain and advanced the L-82 cam 4 degrees to shift the power band down the rev range slightly and that is exactly what the kit did. Peak 280 RWTQ at 4,000 RPM to 3,500 RPM on the dyno.

I agree the radiator and and shroud canstay, and definately go double roller. You can get ones from cheap to expensive, unless you plan on running up past 6500 rpm, go middle of the road on price.
