I have an 81, the cruise works but when you engage it at 100 kph it slowly speeds up to 110 kph then holds just fine.Looked in book to make adjustments cannot find any adjustable orifice tube??? Can anyone help me out?
if you look very carefully, you will see between the transducer and the fender, there is a brass tube that comes out the side of the transducer that has a brass nut on it, that is your orifice tube it also has a rubber hose that has a 90 degree bend in it that goes forward. you loosen the brass nut and turn it counter clock wise to reduce and clock wise to speed up, in your case counter clock wise. please let me know how in the hell you get a wrench on the nut to loosen it. the instructions i just gave you are for an 82, but i think its the same for your 81. hope this helps.
Since you have an 82 maybe you can answer a few questions for me. I have an 82 (recently purchased) that is missing the cruise control unit located under the hood. I looked at an 81 a few weeks ago and it appeared what I am missing is a electric operated solenoid that has a plug with two or three wires and one or two vacuum hoses connected to it. The 81 I looked at had the cruise control solenoid mounted on a bracket connected to and directly over top the odometer transducer. Could you describe for me the mouinting and hookup for the cc unit on your 82. If it is like the 81, I must be missing a mounting bracket. Thanks..
