Default L88 Block Question

I have posted this elsewhere but should have posted it here first.

Was it possible to get a 1969 iron block (3963512) with the following pad stamping T1017ME? I was told all ME stamped blocks were Aluminum block 052s.

Thanks,
Al

According to a couple of sites I checked ME just signifies it was a 435hp 427cid with a manual trans
T= Tonowanda plant
1017 = Oct 17th
ME =427 435hp MT
What other numbers are on the stamping pad??

'ME suffix is the ZL1 option...no cast iron ME cars`s from the factory and only 2 such options was built.......not counting over the counter ME engines or blocks...Somewhere along the line the CE suffix was introduced as warranty assemblies for all engines

It's not ME. The spacing is all wrong. It's not a very good picture, but I would bet it's actually LE. Can you get a better picture of the pad and check the rough casting area next to the oil filter for the VIN?
