On the '75 I've now got a problem with not being able to turn the engine off without a lot of jiggling the key. I assume the ignition switch is toast but I need some instruction as to how to replace it.
I would like to read up on this before I screw a lot of stuff up in the tilt/tele column.
Does anybody have a good resource? I have the AIM but it's not helping on this one.
Thanks

I feel your pain...
Hate to bear bad news, but when my '78 did that I had to R&R the ignition switch; column disassembly required. It isn't rocket science, but certainly not fun either. IMHO you'll want to have a genuine factory service manual for your car on hand, no substitutes (Jim's advice the only exception). Good luck with the repair.

Thanks for the replies! After much searching the net I've found the location of the ignition switch at the bottom of the steering column. How it works between the key and the switch------- I have no idea!
Here is a paper in Microsoft Word format. It covers dropping the steering column and replacing the ignition switch and the dimmer switch (dimmer switches on 1977 thru 1982 columns.) There are slightly different procedures for the earlier 1969 thru 1976 columns.
Thank you Jim! Yours was the first instruction I ran into on my search of the internet. I had already downloaded it and I'm just waiting for the switch to arrive.
Again, thanks for sharing this valuable and informative information.
