Default c3 ac blower

I have read all the posted forums regarding the c3 blower, but most are outdated. Does anyone have a modern fix for the same old problem, other than the c4 upgrade, that will improve the air flow on my early 77 ac system? Seems like that by now there should be a wonderful aftermarket fix for this problem.

Also is there a more efficient condenser available that fits in the stock location using the existing hoses? I am considering an R134 upgrade but do not want to use the "fit all" condensers and have to modify my new hoses.

If you go to the R134, you should get a parallel flow condenser for better cooling. Vintage Air sells the year specific condensers and I would also look into an electric fan to mount in front of the condenser. This will allow cold air to continue to blow when the car is stopped or at a traffic light etc. Finally, make sure all of the vents and ducts are sealed where the air will blow into the cabin and not lose some of it behind the dash area. By the way, Vintage air also sells the electric fans. I love this set up and am enjoying cold air in Florida.
Good luck

Bill

I did a complete upgrade on my 73 which is close to the same as your 77.Even if you do not change the compressor and evaporator/VIR valve you should change to the new condenser.

The blower motor and fan can be changed out to a C4 fan and blower but you will need to add a spacer. The new fan and blower does move more air but nothing like the cars of today.

Thanks for the input. Do the vintage air condensers use the original hose locations?

I'm really not sure about the hoses because I installed the complete Vintage Air system in my 76 but if you call them, they will be very helpful. Nice people to work with and proud of their products.

NO!!!!! You will have to get new hoses made. Many AC shops can do the necessary crimping. Suggest that you buy the fittings and hose separately and fit then yourself. I used Nostalgic Air Parts www.nostalgicairparts.com. Call and they can help.
