My '78 has been garaged since 2001, started last summer with no brakes and now on to make it road worthy.
The AC wasn't working when started last summer so I've started to look into that. I thought that all the freon would have leaked out by now but much to my surprise the low pressure switch was still made although it still could be low on charge. Clutch engages for a short time on then starts to cycle on/off. IIRC, it had this problem when last driven also.
The switch is opening/closing. I picked up a generic replacement. The thermocouple-like tube was held by two hose clamps under what we called "monkey poop" when I was a electronics tech in the Navy many years ago.
The stuff is all dry and parts crumbled off even though I removed it gently. Where would one purchase this stuff?
Very clever how they have the top, somewhat easier screw to get to on the switch bracket notched out and the bottom one not!
