I got a set from huron speed products and i wasnt very impressed with the welds on the primaries. I had to have my friend who works at a race shop grind down the welds on the headers to smooth out the primaries where they were welded to the flange. He did the best he could but the welds to the flange were so crappy that he was afraid he'd punch right through one side. The weld from the flange to the pipe was so far off it made a mountain of a fold that was covered over.

They bolted to my small block 350 easily though, fit around the steering box nicely, i had everything installed in an afternoon. That part I was happy with. I drove it around for a little and got discoloration, bluing, on the headers but I didnt try polishing it out yet. I've heard it will come out.

I didnt realize at the time that i bought them that they were the same as OBX. I think the ones from huron are made in china as well, i saw chinese letters inside the side tubes on a decal. Huron claims all the corvette side pipes they sell are made in America...?

I put in STS baffles, loved dealing with JCL. They're great people and the baffles sound pretty good. I dont see much if any power difference from open side tube hookers i had on previously to the STS baffles.

The very same stainless side pipe system is marketed as OBX and maximizers so it really wouldn't surprised me if the Huron "brand" also came from the same factory. If you look close you will see they are the same.. some may be "seconds"... I just noticed in another thread that a seller selling them as "maximizers" hadn't even bothered to take his own pics.... he just watermarked the exact photos that many of the OBX sellers use... and they even stated they were "designed" in the USA.... never seen someone BRAG about cloning another companies design (hooker) and then insinuate that they had something to do with it.
I have no issues with the product but that statement rubs me the wrong way...
I have used obx headers on my truck for a year and they turned blue then brown but no rust.... they work well, I'm hoping the side pipes I bought for my 74 do the same.

I ordered the 2 1\4 sweet thunders last night myself.... I'm concerned about them being too loud... I like aggressive sound but I don't want it so loud that I can't hear the stereo or passenger.. the 2 1\2 sound good from the YouTube videos and the 2 1/4 is only supposed to be a few DB quieter.
