Default window doesn't go where it used to

Reassembled both doors the other day with all new nylon bushings for the windows and the drivers side is working just fine. The passenger side window on my 69 is tilted inboard and I can't see why. It rolls up and down smoothly with the door open and all the rollers seem to be in their respective tracks. But with the door closed, here is what I see on the A-pillar:

and same story on the B-pillar

No amount of offset to the roller guide mount at the top comes close to fixing this. The window is all the way up against the outer seal as well.

If there is another way to adjust it I don't know what it is. I can't see any difference in watching the action from the top on both doors. These are manual windows by the way.

Will do a little research on the forum and elsewhere to see if there is a trick. But I would be very happy to hear from somebody as to how to fix this. Thought I was going to have the car ready for a show on Sunday, now I am not so sure..

Thanks for the setup sheet Dave. It is well written and I will post it if that's OK with you. Basically it is "loosen everything, get in the car, adjust things and tighten everything". Tried it, but it didn't help. However I think I know what is going on.

I had followed 'birdsmith's' post a while back on painting and one of the things that he bitched about was the poor quality of the aftermarket window seals that sits on the outside sill of the door. Agreed! I had to file the buttons down on mine to get it to seat. I think what may be going on is that the passenger side strip hasn't stayed seated. Looking at it, it is pulled away from the SS strip under it and I can't get the buttons on the passenger side to pop back in. The driver's side is OK. I think that is pushing enough on the glass to force it to tilt in as the window rolls up. It wouldn't take much to skew the window as the two forces that tilt the window get closer together.

Anyway, I am either going to try to put some screws or rivets in to pull it into the door, or get another. I know where I can get an NOS strip if the former effort fails..

Hi i,
Adjusting the door glass is pretty tricky!
I'm not sure what info H sent you but have you looked at the adjustment sheet in the AIM?
When Chevrolet devotes an entire page to one thing and it has 19! steps it means it's not easy. There's another page showing the adjustments so you can understand what the first sheet is talking about. A third page has some drawings showing how how the glass and weatherstrip should fit on the three sides of the glass.
What I found good about the INFO is that it EXPLAINS what DIRECTION each ADJUSTMENT MOVES the WINDOW.
In my 71 AIM the info is in UPC1 Sheets K10, K11, and K12, for coupes. Sheets K10, K13, and K14 for convertibles.
Good Luck!
Regards,
Alan

Been there done that with the strips as well, locator buttons are fitted to the strips like staples, you can remove them and relocate to align with the door holes by making new holes in the strip (usually only have to move a couple) I also used some windshield silicone on the buttons and wedged the strip in place until this set to ensure the strip stayed put - so far so good:-)

Problem solved. My local parts place, Corvette Clinic, rescued me again. They had a NOS RH weather strip. The buttons all snapped in with authority. Sat in the car, took a deep breath and the window rolled all the way up. Yea! My pile of crappy aftermarket replacements just keeps growing.

Haggis: It must be kind of frustrating to be all the way on the other side of the planet and wait for parts from the US that don't quite fit. Good luck to you
