took off side louvers on my 71 (#3995017-8) #2 screws where wrong and bottom mounting had no #7 nut assembly. AIM sht 11/ A13 show pic that the louver has a threaded mounting stud at the bottom. my louver has a threaded hole in the louver bottom? could be a bubba thing? I want to know what is correct and what size screws, nuts I need to purchase.
Thanks
Mike
Hi Mike,
You're right...the original egg-crate grill had a threaded stud along it's bottom edge. There were holes for 2 screws at it's top edge. Those screws were chrome plated, and oval headed.... maybe #8 or #10.
It's certainly possible that your grill had the stud broken off so someone drilled and tapped a hole in it to receive a screw.
I believe the original nut had a formed washer as part of the nut.

Alan
