1981 check engine light help.
Hi everyone, I have had a stock 1981, L81, automatic for about a year now and am slowly fixing things as they come up. As I do this it has become obvious that bubba has gotten ahold of her at some point. The center console was not installed properly and when I took it out to fix it I noticed the connector that goes into the back that controls the check engine light was unplugged. Of coarse I plugged it in and my check engine light is on which I will tackle later but first I'd like to know why it is only on when the head lights are on. It does not come on when you first turn the key. Has anyone else experienced this or know where to begin fixing it? I appreciate any suggestions you gave.
