Valve Seals
I'm going to replace the valve seals on my 1976 L-82...is there anything else that is a "must-do" that should go along with this job (like springs)? Plan on getting the seals from GM, correct?

I used Fel-Pro seals and have never had a problem.

You don't have to use GM seals. There are other types of seals that use various materials. However, depending what you choose may require machining of the valve stems.

I don't want to get into any machining, just looking to replace the seals to stop the puff on start-up after long sits.
I would prefer to use GM seals, but I called the local dealer's parts deaprtment they tell me the seals are no longer available.

I had the same problem with my '76 with a little blue smoke on start up. Fel-Pro seals, I believe I used the umbrella type, resolved the issue. My mileage was about 90K at the time.

Thanks Jud, don't suppose you've got a part number that you recall?

I thought for sure I had a set and would have give sent them to you but I could not find them. They came with a gasket set I bought 5-6 years ago.

Yes, heads on. Compressed air will be used.
Thanks dunit, thought that counts!
