I am not really quite to the point in my project that I need to start getting wiring, but I figured I would start researching it. Most of the wiring in my Corvette has very brittle and cracking insulation, and it appears that there are other problems because parts of the fuse box is melted. I was looking at the new wiring harnesses and for the entire car they are almost $1500.00. I was looking at some of the aftermarket companies such as painless wiring but they do not have a kit for a Corvette.
Has anyone ever found an affordable wiring harness? Or has any one ever used something like one of the GM universal wiring harness from painless wiring and adapted it to the Corvette? I know it would not be original, but the car is some what of a restomod.
Call mamo see if they will put a deal together for you. The same with painless and american auto wire. Repop or custom wiring...whatever you decide replace the wiring. What you're describing is a future fire. Imo you don't cut corners in this area of your restoration.
Lectric Limited is one of the better quality Corvette harness suppliers. Some of the aftermarket guys sell them, just find the best price including shipping and be sure it is a Lectric Limited set.
That is probably going to be the correct price for any Lectric Limited for the entire car. Worth the money though. When I changed my engine, I was shocked it had not burnt to the ground after looking at the wiring in the engine bay.
You can probably go with some type of painless system but you would have to talk to them to see what type of setups they have.
