Default 1972 Fender Louvers

Can anyone help on the correct way to restore/paint Fender Louvers. I've seen solid painted louvers and ones with some bright work.

Carl

Carl--it is my understanding that most if not all of the louvers were supposed to have the leading edges chrome. On the 70's the first verticle ridge and all the horizontal ridges were to be chrome. I think on the 72's both verticle and horizontal edges were to be chrome, I thing a lot of body shops just painted over them because it must be a real PITA to tape off or use a grease of somekind. I would guess some of the forum members can shed a little more lite on the subject.

To my knowledge they came from the factory with the chrome on the edges.

The 70-72 cars did have the side grills painted. Mine are a silver color. I don't think it was chrome but a bright silver. I might be off on the color but they are all the same from 70-72
