OK...I feel dumb up front for not being able to install my intake without a 1000 questions...so I installed my Performer RPM this morning and came up with a concern afterward. My heads have "extra" threaded holes (it's a blueprint 383 crate engine, not sure exactly what brand heads are). These holes sit just outside the border of the intake, in the space between the intake and the valve covers.
What are these holes? I haven't seen them in any pictures of other heads. They're not plugged and seem to pass into some passage. Unfortunately if I was supposed to block them, a few are partially blocked by the intake and it'll have to come back off.
could the heads be drilled for Vortech intakes and regular intakes?
Pics would probably help
Crap...I think you're on the right track. Searched for vortech heads and looks like the 4 holes match up with my heads. I guess I'm just dangerous enough to get this far.
I'm guessing they need to be plugged...any other issues I need to consider? I swear their website said non-vortech intakes and exhaust, but they totally changed it since I did my research.
I found where I got my information. The specs for the crate engine say they use Blueprint heads. The only Blueprint heads I found on their website are the 195cc SB Chevy heads. In the specs for the heads, it says 1986 and earlier intake bolt pattern.
Hopefully the last intake question...Anyone have any suggestions for a source for 5/16"-18 plugs that I can use for the vortec mounting holes? I'm finding tons of NPT plugs, but nothing for straight threads that don't have a bolt head.

Why not just smear pipe joint compound on the bolts? Then torque 'em to maybe 12 ft/lbs.

Bolts in the vortec mounting holes would interfere with the non-vortec intake manifold, so it needs to be the type of plug that recesses into the hole.
