Steering gearbox seal
Hey guys, the bottom seal off my steering gearbox is leaking. I was thinking about removing the whole assembly to replace but after looking at it and reading some threads, i'm now a little cautious. What i'm thinking about doing is getting a puller, and just pulling the pitman arm off, and replacing the seal with the assembly still in the car. I was just thinking then maybe i wouldn't have to worry to much about things getting out of adjustment. Or maybe that seal won't work that way and i have to pull the whole thing out, what do you guys think?

You can do it as you say by pulling the pitman arm digging out the old seal and replacing it with the box still in the car. Suggest you then top up the box with suitable grease, there is a lubricant on the market for veteran & classic car steering boxes which is like honey and just just barely pours at room temp. It's what I used.
