Default Who is using DeWitts Rad/Fan Combo?

Hey guys, we now offer aluminum radiators and fan kits for other classic cars, like Camaro, Chevelle, and GTO and some are questioning the effectiveness to the aluminum radiator/electric fan package. I would love to see a thread of testimonials on your experiences with these packages.

I'm running your radiator/dual Spal combo in my '73. I wasn't having cooling problems when I made the switch. I just needed a new radiator and wanted to eliminate the mechanical fan and busted shroud while I was at it. That said, my engine temps are 10 degrees cooler than with the original equipment.

I have the small block/no a/c single fan radiator in my 72. When I installed the LS1 with double+ the power of the original motor I thought I was going to have to get the big block radiator.

I have driven the car in 100+ degree temps with the LS1 and the small radiator works great. The fan comes on when the temp gauge hits the first unspecified line on the gauge (185-190?) and never goes higher.

I have the opposite problem in the colder weather here in New England. The radiator cools so well that I don't get enough heat!

I can't believe how well my 78 cools with the DeWitt's rad and electric fans. The engine bay looks SO much nicer and the engine sounds a lot better.

Not to mention the fans never kick on when the car's moving, only at an idle.

Honestly, I've tried - I can pull one of the fan relays and the car will continue to stay very very cool.

I have the combo on mine and it works great. I have swapped over to LS power and am now using your same combo for the LS motor. So far it. Is working great. Thanks for making a great product.

I'm running Dewitt's rad/ dual Spal combo with a 160 thermostat on my 1980 Corvette, 385 stroker, 500 hp, T56 6 speed, 370 rear and it's never ran hot. It just works great and was easy to install. I'm a satisfied customer! Thanks Tom!

Only way to go. I always have to chuckle a little when I hear of someone on the forum having that over heating problem, and want to know how to cure it.

I went thru Alumatech for my Boss's 1967 Vette that was overheating and being that he did not make the Radiator he asked me if he could supply me with yours and we said go for it. It came with the Spal Dual fan setup.

Engine was a 502bbc with OE Radiator/Fan clutch setup and was overheating like crazy, granted it was a small block setup. Once we made the swap it never overheated again in this Texas weather. The fit and finish was beautiful and it went in with ease.

I wouldnt hesitate to do business again.

Am good friends with the person I sold my 90 ZR1 to so see it and work on it often

He now has the DeWitts rad./fan combo and it runs cooler than I could ever get it to. The real test is being stuck in traffic on a HOT day for prolonged periods. You cant get it to heat up no matter what period.
Nice system

Just ordered a De Witts for my 67 El will be using it with my current Spal fan/shroud setup. I know exactly what temps this runs now in XX deg weather so the comparison after should be pretty accurate.

383 with well over 500hp...current 3 row is fine til 85 deg temps then the fan is constantly fighting it think this rad. is at its limit in being able to shed heat.

After trying to cool a 454 I put in my 77, I bit the bullet and made the purchase of that package last year. What a joy. The days of driving with one eye on the road and one eye on the temp gauge are gone, and I couldnt be more pleased with the performance of this set-up.

Tom, I am running your rad and Spal fan combo in my 615 horse 502 powered 69. Never a cooling problem and have never been happier with a product. I have had it since 2003. It is a Griffin radiator back when you were selling them. Great product.

I have a 68 427 Auto, I'm getting pretty close to getting it on the road after a chassis rebuild. My fan shroud is shredded, am I looking at around a $1000.00 for a new rad and dual fan set-up?

List is $920, some dealers here offer discounts. Willcox and Zip come to mind. We will be at Bloomington Gold next week with show specials

I've got one on the shelf for my 71 BB build thats on hold.
Customer of mine is having cooling issues on his 91 ZR1. He wanted to drop in a 165 stat thinking that'll help him run cooler.
Talked him into giving you a call. One of your rads should be showing up here anyday

No cooling issues on my 442 but idf I do I'll give you a call

I have your aluminum rad and dual spal fans in my 77 with a 550hp - 427 SBC Dart SHP engine and manual trans. The rad fits fine except I need to add a street elbow in to make the drain petcock usable as it blocked from turning because of interference with the rad mount frame.

I installed the rad and fans with a high flow 160 degree thermostat and a Edelbrock Victor Jr. water pump and the combination keeps the engine at about the 185 degree level which is just the perfect temperature in my opinion.

Your setup is working great in my 73. No more issues with overheating when I am sitting in traffic at the Woodward Dream Cruise. 90*F and the AC on. I have one fan hooked up to the temp sensor to come on when needed and the other on a toggle switch for the above condition.
And I love the extra room in the engine compartment.
