Default installing door glass and regulator

I had the car painted and am now doing the reassembly. I removed every part inside the door prior to paint, including door regulators, glass, power window motors, etc so I could replace worn parts and thoroughly clean the tracks. Is there a step by step procedure for putting the regulators and glass back in without scratching the glass? thanks, Steve

I ust did this on my 80. The above link is the way to go. In short, the regulator and motor (if power) go in first. Then lower the window onto its tracks. Start by tilting the window so the front is down, and put the front roller into its track. Then lower the back of the window and line up the other 2 rollers into their channels. Having someone to hold + tilt the window while you are lining up the rollers really will help.0

Thanks for the replies. They are very helpful. I will use the instructions above and from the link to website above when I reassemble this coming weekend. If I understand it correctly, I would install the long vertical channel at rear of door first (i didn't see the long vertical channel in any of the instructions so I assume that means it wasn't removed in the Zip instructional website), then the rugulator and motor? All the moving parts on the components appear to be working. Do you recommend replacing any of the rollers, power window motor bushing, or any other parts prior to assembly? IE are any parts prone to wearout? Would you put in the door latch mechanism, outside door handle mechanism, or lock rods after putting the window in?

The best way to search Corvette Forum and other sites, magazines, etc is Google. I've picked up some good articles. I'll try to forward them tomorrow. With several step my step instructions including photos from multiple sites, you pretty much get the idea how to do it. I'm planning on replacing my 68 windows. They're chipped from where they hit the hard top many years ago when it was installed.

Here are the instructions I (mostly) followed. I'm not sure if this is the same link as above, as my browser could not open it.

I did not bother reusing the old regulator. Every time I closed the door, or hit a bump in the road, everything inside the door would rattle. Also I could move the window about 1-1/2 inches just by pulling on it.
I bought a new regulator, window roller bushings kit, motor bushing gear (plastic), anti-rattle cushions + outside window seal.
Removing and cleaning the old channels was important. Also lubed them with white lithium grease. I did not touch the door lock mechanism, other than spraying the components down with the grease.
It was a bit of a challenge, but turned out great.

Thanks. This is all very helpful. And it makes sense except for one question. When removing my regulators, I put a bolt thru the holes in the two arms to prevent the regulator from moving. I have power windows and had read that the bolt should be put in place to hold the spring from moving the regulator till the window is back in place. Do I remove the bolt prior to installing the window channel onto the regulator? If I don't, the regulator won't move and I don't think I can get the window channel on it. I'm going to unbolt the regulator from the door to see if I can reposition it to allow me to get the window channel installed. Then bolt the regulator back on the door. If that works, I'll then install the window onto the channel and then remove the safety bolt.

The "Bolt" is there to hold the regulator in place so you can remove and replace the motor.
Once the motor is back in place the bolt can be removed and the regulator can be collapsed and reinstalled in the door.
