I was wondering if anyone is using a Edelbrock 1405 600 cfm carb on their C3. I have a 69 350/350 and recently put the carb on and am having an off idle stumble. Anyone using this carb and any info on settings such as step-up springs or jetting? Seems to run great at 2000rpm or more but stumbles off idle. Any help would be great.
TONS of complaints about that problem all over the place on Eddie carbs. Check your float level. Make sure your air cleaner isn't hitting on any of the linkage. Also fuel pressure. Those Eddies won't handle more than 5 psi the company even warns about it. You tube has a ton of tuning videos on their carbs as well.
also go to Edelbrock.com and under automotive and carbs, find the download for their user manual. That will help for setup and moving to richer or leaner setip. Take a look at the hole the accelerator pump level is in . you want the max shot setting. The float level is critical on these so check it. Here again the manual is full of information.
I had the same problem. I finally just gave up and got a Quadrajet rebuilt by Cliff's Q-Jets. That carb is great.
You must be living right. I checked them out and this is directly from their website. I'm not waiting a year for a carb rebuild. Lars is up to bat.

I had mine done about five years ago, but it took about a year even back then. Cliff's will be supplying the parts for the next Quadrajet I need for a 455 in my Firebird. I think Lars was on a sabbatical when I had Cliff do my carb.
I think this is the crux of the whole Holley vs. Q-jet debate. The Q-jet may be a better fuel metering device, but even a knucklehead like me can rebuild and tune a Holley. I think the Edelbrock carbs are sort of in between. Have you given any thought to getting your hands on an old Holley 1850 and rebuilding it? They are very easy carbs to work with. Not really a suggestion, just an option to think about.
i have an edelbrock 1400 emissions legal carb and i rebuilt it and added new brass floats.it gets good mileage and since it was rebuilt by a master,it never bogs down.
