Got the cam out, ugly ...
Mirage2991, how do I check for valve spring binding?
I think the reason the cam wiped was that the motor sat for a long time dry before I fired it. I followed good break in procedure, but in hindsight I should have pulled the lifters and relubed the cam. Live and learn ...
I really don't want to pull the engine if I don't have to. I started another thread on cleaning, I guess there will be many opinions here.
Now the slippery slope starts. New cam, 3/8 pushrods, new guideplates. Maybe switch to hyd rollers? But then some aluminum heads would be nice ... Uh oh here we go! STAY FOCUSED!!!
