Default timing @ 25*

was going to put a spring kit in the dist after reading about the 28* total factory timing.

I started her up and let her warm up, unplugged the vac to the dist and plugged the line (going to the carb) at about 5-600 RPM idle I had to dail the timing light up to 25* to get the mark back to zero on the tab.

the dist is spun back like it was retarded, so I thinking the dist is off a few theet and someone spun the wires around. but either way 25* would cause a buck at start up wouldn't it.
or has my balancer spun.

I hate timing , but guess I should start by pulling the dist and resetting everything from scratch, but the car starts and run pretty good.

figured I'd get some opinions first.

Yep, start at the beginning and rule everything out, otherwise you'll just end up chasing your own tail.

The info posted in that timing post is obsolete and outdated. For current and accurate timing info, obtain correct info directly from me via e-mail request.

Personal attention from The Man himself! You're in good hands, now, 4 speed, in case you don't know it. Lars is the Drunken Master of engine tuning. He wrote most of the material that the thread I linked to is based upon. Follow his advice, and you'll be in good shape.
