Default Holley Carb...secondary bowl float level??

I'm doing a tune up and, while checking the float levels of the carb, the primary bowl (front bowl) is spot on (barely a trickle when the sight plug is removed) BUT when I remove the sight plug for the rear bowl, the gas pours out. Shouldn't the level for the secondary bowl be the same as the primary? I can do the adjustment.....I just need to know the level.

You (may already know?) cant lower the level if the bowl is too full.
Pull a bowl screw out let it drain then adjust and try again.

If the secondary float bowl is too high, the car will have a nasty tendancy to stall out when you make quick stops as it floods.

I have this problem too. I need to get out there and lower it. I have a street avenger.

Even if the fuel is sloshing out of the sight screw, you can turn down the level, drive the car and "open it up" 2-3 times to draw gas from the secondary fuel bowl, then re-adjust the float level to the correct point.

(if it won't adjust correctly, you might have a bit of crud stuck to the tip if the needle valve, causing it to pass fuel all the time.)

You can easily take a syringe and a tube and draw the fuel out through the vents too.

Hey, Stuart. The rear works just like the front, only the fuel does not get burned from the rear unless the secondaries are being used. Drive the car, punch it to open the secondaries, then park it on a level surface and shut down the engine. Open the sight plug and see if you have, too much or too little fuel in the bowl. Adjust the needle valve, while the engine is not running, closer to what you need. Drive the car again doing the same procedure. Check and recheck until you get it correctly set. I do not recommend that you try to set either with the engine running. The fuel goes everywhere. Stay safe. mike...
