Default Wiper Motor Bench Testing - '79

I am getting some different results when I run the bench motor test done by Willcox.

When I run a hot wire to the middle prong (#2 in their picture), my motor immediately comes on - low speed. If I take that wire off the middle and put it on the bottom prong (#1) then the motor will go to Park - and then stop. If I take it off #1 and put it on #3 (top prong) then it will go high speed.

So, the motor will react even if there is not a constant 12V source going to the middle prong. And I don't have to run a jumper from #3 to #1 to get low speed. (per the instructions).
Do I have a bad switch inside the motor?

Here are the Willcox instructions:

The 12 constant is the only voltage that should be going to the wiper motor, all other connections will be ground to achieve the different speeds.

I tried emailing him - maybe he is out of town. When 12V is applied to the middle prong the motor immediately comes on - and shouldn't.

Try the Tech video file on Willcox site.
Shows 12v going to #2 and ground to case, motor will go into run-on. Add ground to #3 and will park. Add ground to #1 and #3 get high speed. remove ground #3 get low speed.

The video has an error. You must leave ground to the #1 terminal to get it to park. Once it's parked you can remove the ground from #1 and it will stay parked.

Yes I forgot to add that, thanks.
No need to remove ground from #1 after park thow. See switch line 91 to ground when off.

On mine, I've got 12V to #2, and then when I add a ground wire to #3(furthest prong from motor)- it goes to High speed.
When I remove the wire to #3 it will go to Low speed.
This is without doing anything to #1.

If I have my 12V to #2 and then I touch a ground wire to #1 then it will go to Park.

You must do something with #1. See in switch were both line 91 and 92 go to ground in low speed, and by removing one or the other get's high speed and park. and both ground being low speed.
