small annoying problem with shifter knob

small annoying problem with shifter ****
when my revs are up past 3000, especially in 4th, my shifter **** wiggles itself loose and i have to screw it back on. i've torqued on it as much as i can and it still comes loose. any ideas?

Sounds like your threads are rounded and not holding well enough. You might want to try a tap & die and clean the threads. Wrapping the shaft threads with teflon tape might help.

I put a nut on the shifter first and then put the ball where I wanted it, then tightened the "jam"nut. No problems and the "H" patern is straight. :D

But put very little on, so you can remove it if you need to in the future.

actually the teflon tape worked pretty well. i had thought about it before i made the post, but i thought it would need something more. thanks all!

Try a dab of silicone cement. Let it dry overnight and your problem will be fixed.
