I was rebuilding my front suspension on my corvette but took a while due to budget. I finally got it on the floor & ready to go. I was installing the batter when the wrench slipped & touched both ends of the terminals which caused a couple little sparks. After I tried to start it, I find out that my car won't get any power at all. The battery is charged & tested at a local parts stores. I tried it out on my brother's 1977 Datsun 280Z (fired up right away). I am not getting any power in the vette at all. I don't have gauges or anything installed because the interior is gutted. I just know there's no power because of taillights & no cranking sound. Can anyone please let me know what it could be?!
I looked under the car for the fusible links & they seem to be fine but I am HORRIBLE with electrical work. Please help me asap. Thank you!
Fuse links are on the starter, do you have a test light?
Make sure your getting full battery to the large terminal on the starter and that the ground for the battery and main engine ground are good and clean.
If you can't figure it out give me a holler, I get to Miami a lot.
Check the fusible links at the starter again. All the power to everything except the starter goes through them and the starter won't even work using the ignition switch if they're bad. When they get fried they look good from the outside but the wire inside them is gone.
Thanks! I will look about how to install you fusible links. I already know where they are located so I will see if anyone local can help me out just in case. I really appreciate the quick help!
