I have been investigating the whole HVAC thing on my 74. Mine does not blow out of the vents either even though I can hear the fan changing speeds when I move the switch to the different positions. If you look down in the fender on the passenger side of the windshield wiper trough you will see the fan. I believe (and I am no expert) that one of the doors in the HVAC system under the dash are jammed in a position that does not allow the air to flow out the vents. I need to dig into this as well, but am going to wait until I am ready to shut down for the winter before tearing into the dash. I am worried that once I tear into the dash I will open a big can of worms that will keep the dash open for several weeks...I don't want to lose the driving time right now.
I will be interested in whetever you find out...I will be in this boat soon enough.

I will see what I can find out this weekend and post it up. I sure hope to get this solved tomorrow so I can hang all my new AC equip!
The part of the fan seen from the cowl area is the suction side, inside of the blower wheel. Many times there is debris, leaves, mouse nests etc that block the evaporator core and won't let air pass.

Any recommendation on how to check this or do I just have to pull the evap core to figure it out? I pulled the blower last winter when the engine was out of the car and it was fine.
I just read on another thread that you can remove the blower motor resistor and see inside if the blend door is moving and if it's clean inside.
Yes you can remove the blower resistor and see one side of the Evap. But , it is the other side of the Evap that usually gets the debris stuck to it - .
Today I removed my blower motor/fan and stuck my camera in the opening. I was able to take a pic of the fan side of the Evap and check the debris. Not easy to remove the fan but can be done.
My door is working fine and it looks clean under the resistor, I guess I need to get to the other side and I think that means opening the heater box. Anyone know for sure?
