Mobile 1 synthetic oil???
I choose to go with Amsoil, one of the two or three best products in the syn oil market.
- and for this reason I'm using Mobil Heavy Duty conventional oil .....30wt. in the '68 ! :seeya
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
i have used nothing but Mobile 1 for years in my later model cars...
most recently in my 3000GT (which BTW is still for sale) with great results...
so naturaly when i bought my C3 two or three months ago i did my 1st oil change with it...
the car had zero oil leaks until i changed to the synthetic oil and almost imediately developed oil leaks...
when advised to change back to stop the leaks i was skeptical to say the least but i did and the leaks stopped...almost as quickly as they began...
they didnt completely stop tho...i still get a very small drip from my rear main...
my next personal choice is Castrol GTX but honestly i think that most of todays oils are all good and probably most are the same...
i strongly feel however that there is a HUGE difference in oil filters...
if you want to see a really great study on oil filters go here http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study/
you may be very suprised at what you might learn about your favorite!
i will use NOTHING but Mobil 1 filters :)
BTW...i do realize the "can of worms" that has been opened here..LOL
it the old "whats the best oil and/or oil filter" thread again...sorry :)

Will have to look into this when I get back to work. As an oil distributor we deal in many brands synthetic and conventional, straight weights and multi grade. Thanks for a great "homework" topic to learn from. :blueangel:
I did visit the filter site and there is a lot there to read...my first question is from all the different filters he received how many are made by a wide range of manufactuers. Generics are seldom made by a generic company.

In the Vette, the oil gets changed once per year.
In my other cars it gets changed every 10,000 miles. I have 125k on my '97 Grand Prix and it's still running flawlessly. Nothing else will go in my engines (except the mower...although...hmmm..... :) and did someone say fully synthetic RACING oil???)
Thanx again :flag

If they are re-building than you can switch because you will be using all the gasket matl of today and tight spec's regarding everything else (unless your going with total orginal spec's and your anle like me and use cork).
Anyway, with what happen to me and the posts I have seen on the forum, my way of thinking is pritty wide spread.
