Default 77 air conditioning trouble

I need some help with my a/c in my 77. Just did a frame off restore. For the A/c everything is new (compressor, dryer, liquid metal line, evaporator, compressor hoses, orifice tube), and the condenser is original. i took it to an a/c man today and they charged it (and it held) at 90% of 3# of freon 134a that was put into it. It is not blowing cold in the car. It is cool but not cold at all. I adjusted the hot/cold divider door and that helped a little. Trying to figure out why it isn't cold like it should be. Any thoughts anyone?

There are several possibilities. What are the pressures? Try pinching one of the heater hoses to stop the flow and see if the temps drop. Do you have a thermometer in the vent, what is that temp and what is the outside temp? Did the shop vacuum it before charging?

It was 90 out today. They told me the high side was 250# and the low side was 30#. I don't have a thermometer in the vent. I'll check that. I'll ask the shop about vacuuming it out.

Another thing to check is if the fresh air door in the far right of the cowl area by the wipers closes when you go to max ac.

That would be bad, hopefully the shop vacuumed it for a long while to boil out any moisture and get the air out.

I believe they put too much 134 A in the system.........

The actual amount of 134 A should be between 75 to 80 percent of the original R12..

Evacuate some of the 134 and see if cooling improves.....
