Default shifter removal

I'm trying to change my clutch and I can't get the shift lever out.
I removed two bolts but it still appears to be attached somehow.
Any ideas? Do I just need to smack it with a hammer or something to knock rust loose?
Everything I've read indicates that once both of these are removed the shifter should come right out of the top.
I've already disconnected the bracket from the underside and all three shift rods from the transmission.

I removed the pins labelled control lever bracket pin and control lever pin.

The AIM page shows the left-right pin (#7/8 control lever pin) but not the
front-rear one (control lever bracket pin)

The Haynes manual shows the control lever pin bolt head on the opposite side of where it actually is,
so who knows what else might be incorrect with this diagram

Maybe the thing labelled "reverse lever pin"? It doesn't look very accessible even from underneath... bumps into the shift rods.

From under the car move your reverse lever back and you will see second bolt holding shifter assy in place. The pin you removed is not required to remove shifter assy. dave

You were exactly right, thank you.

I didn't realize it could come out with the lever still attached, thought the lever had to come out the top and the rest out the bottom.
