I have had my C3 for 4 years and since I had my motor redone I have had a problem with the car running hot especially with the AC running and the temp is in the high 90s. I have installed an aluminum radiator. My mechanic has advised that we remove the stock fan and install a duel fan behind the radiator. I am looking for a duel fan and I am wondering which duel fan is the best to install.
Has anyone installed one and does anyone have experience on which duel fan to install.
Thanks
Joe
i used a fan from a 2007 ford focus. when mounting any puller fans you must move the fan assembly as far to the right (pass side) as possible to clear the driver side A arm.

Are you sure its the fan? If you have a working mechanical fan that should be more than enough, seeing how they really pull a lot of air. Although they drain a **** ton of power. I'm just saying don't throw money at the problem. I just rebuilt my top end of my 355 and I replaced the pump with a high flow, put a aluminum rad in, and put a 16 puller fan onto it. While I can't say what the temp is running at since I'm going to be starting it today, I am hoping that its going to be completely fine with what I matched it too.
I put dual e-fans on my aluminum radiator (don't know brand of radiator), in heat above about 85* it gets too warm for me, here in Tx. it regularly gets above 100 so I had to put my damn flex fan back on

From what I've been reading there are a lot of cheap poor quality fans on the market that don't move much cfm.... I've read you need to move a minimum of 2700 cfm for a V8.

Yeah I think that's right where mine are at (combined of course), got them from Jeg's...
I'm not impressed with the e-fan setup and am hesitant to spend the money for a Dewitts setup, I have already spent well of $200 on the e-fan setup that doesn't work
one of the reasons is that I installed a new parallel condenser for the AC and now that it is doing its job it gives off a lot of heat which is transmitted to the aluminum radiator. Plus the day the car got hot it was 102 degrees and I was running the AC on high. I would like to be able to run the AC no matter what the temp is. According to a few resources I checked with including the tecks at Custom auto air in Florida the next step would be the duel fan. On days that the temp is below 90 I don't have a problem.
Thanks

I agree! A mechanical good working fan should do the job if the everything else is up to snuff! I had a heat problem for 25 years (ran hot as hell since it was new-225-240 degrees from the factory with the AC on and 100 degree temps) with my 78 L-82 UNTIL I finally installed a chin spoiler, Dewitts aluminum radiator, Stewart Stage 2 high flow water pump and a modified Robertshaw 180 Thermostat-Never goes above 180 now even in 100 degree weather!
Like my mechanic indicated I have gone 70% of the way the duel fan should be the last step.
I hope
The best duel fan I have fould so far is a SPAL fan.
THanks
Joe
That mechanical fan should be efficient for a typical sbc setup in a vette.
My factory mechanical fan cooled a lot better then the dual fan setup I went with. I first tried a single 16" spal and it would run about 225+ in 75 degree weather. Bought focus fans ($75) and installed, kept it around 215. Keep in mind my car would run 185/190 in 100deg weather w/mechanical fan. I checked to make sure all my radiator seals are in place and chin spoiler. Had new hoses to rule out collapsing on suction side of pump. I even put stock water pump back on in place of my hi flow and still nothing changed. I have 10.4:1 compression ratio and aluminum heads in my 383ci.
Installed dewitts aluminum radiator w/focus fans and left my 160 tstat in. It wouldn't hit 150deg in 85 deg weather. I installed a shaw 180tstat and it runs at 170 in 100 degree weather.
I have put in an aluminum radiator I spoke to DeWitt and they suggested the duel SPAL Fan set up. My mechanic has agreed. Again I think that once I installed the parallel condenser for the AC it is now doing its job sending heat to the radiator.
Hope that takes care of the problem.
Thanks
Joe
