Default Your opinion on this engine setup please.

I have a '75 350 L48 AT corvette and have been looking to upgrade my engine a bit so I don't feel as a snail :-)

So I have super comp hooker side pipes with glasspack mufflers and would install the trick flow kit TFS-K314-350-400 somewhere next year but now I would already start with the manifold and carb to go with this head/cam kit.

http://www.trickflow.com/partdetail....N=400098++150+

I've asked the shop what manifold and carb would be good for this setup and car.
He suggested the edelbrock 2101 with a holley 0-80555c carb.

but I read that the air-gap is beter but I'm afraid I will have hood clearance issues, (maybe with a moroso drop base filter ?)
If I would go with an air-gap performer or rpm should I go with a Holley 4150 ?

Or what about the EPR performer ?

I know there are some experienced people on here that might give me an opinion on what would be best for me as I am kinda lost in the choices....

Thanks

none of those intakes or carb will make a significant difference in power. it's possible to actually lose power with the wrong carb.

put the money towards heads and a cam, or a crate motor.

or go with the 2101 (just for the weight savings). otherwise you'll be spending money on a hood also

That is on my list, the trick flow top end kit.
But I need to get an intake and carb for that setup, and that is what I am asking here as I have no idea what would be best with thet kit and what would fit under my stock hood ( maybe with a drop base moroso filter)

I would buy the intake & carb now and somewhat later the heads/cam kit.

I agree. Working on the induction and exhaust systems won't do much good, unless you first install better performing heads and [matching] cam. The heads and cam are the critical parts for performance improvement...then your intake and exhaust system improvements have something useful to do.

Also, there are better intake manifolds than the stock L-48 unit; but you won't improve anything by swapping out the Q-Jet carb....except maybe get a big drop in fuel mileage and poorer idle and transition behavior. But, if you install a hi-rise manifold, you may need to modify your hood.

Prior to ANY engine parts swaps, you may want to dial-in what you now have for a nearly-FREE 30+ HP improvement: re-curve your distributor for 'performance', do a tune-up on the ignition system, and adjust (or rebuild, if it needs it) your carb/choke. You also need to verify that your throttle cable/linkage system is actually opening your secondary throttle plate completely when your accel pedal is pushed to the floor (not checked with hand-actuation of carb linkage).

Until you make those 'simple' changes to your existing engine, the other things you are considering are a total waste of time and money.

OK, I believe I need to rephrase the question...

What intake / carb would work best with the trick flow top end power kit ?
TFS-K314-350-400

Taking in consideration that it has to fit under a stock 75 hood. I don't mind using a drop base filter.
