Boy.. we have a conversion kit for the earlier cars but I don't see one for the 1979 non tilt cars. I may have a used tilt column from a 79 if interested.. I'd have to double check the condition of it though. I'm going to keep looking too, maybe there is a conversion kit out there I'm not aware of.

Nothing.. You might email Jim Shea and see if he has a solution or search his archives. If anyone knows away around this Jim will.

I surveyed the steering wheel situation about 10 years ago. I can't tell if the information is still current or not. This is what I wrote.

Wheel with Integral Hub - Standard Column - 1976 through 1979
It appears that the 1976 standard steering wheel with the integral hub was used on all standard steering columns from 1976 through 1979. (T&T was the only steering column available after 1979.)

Eckler’s advertises a steering wheel adapter hub, horn button, a generic emblem and an adapter cover (A6995) and adapter rings (A6996P-polished or A6996B-black) to adapt 1963 to 1982 Corvette steering wheels to these standard columns.

I have a 78 with the non tilt column and I replaced the "vega" steering wheel about 20 years ago BUT I don't remember where I got the wheel from-either Mid America or Ecklers, think Ecklers. The wheel was a replacement 3 spoke leather wheel just like the ones for the Tilt columns made specifically for the 76-79 Non tilt C3's BUT required no adapters since the connection plate was made specifically for the non tilt cars-It is no longer made as far as I know. It bolted right up to the non tilt column and is still on the car with no adapters. You may want to contact Ecklers and inquire about it. I guess the market for these wheels was so small that they stopped offering it. Boy, am I glad I purchased that wheel 20+ years ago!

I have purchased a few items over the years that are no longer offered. I think that you have to move off the mark sometimes and buy certain items before they are no longer offered. 4 items come to mind:

1. SLP Hyperblack ZR-1 style rims specifically for the C3's-17 inch rims
2. 3/4 inch OEM type rear sway bar with OEM end links
3. C3 non tilt 76-79 style steering wheel
4. GM rubber spoiler extension for 79 C3's with heavy duty cooling-L-82 AC cars. I have the 79 flexible rubber spoiler extension on my 78 L-82 AC car. Giant help with cooling!
