I agree with white house. I think that the fuel system has to be set up for e85, if from what I've read when you switch to e85 your fuel consumption goes up quit a bit. If your experiencing a high engine temps I would figure that your lean, as everything I've read also states that the "engine runs cooler on ethanol blends". With thus being said it's only from the internet. If you Google reading spark plugs there's a good right up and some YouTube videos that do a good job explaining how to read the plugs, there again it is the internet. But f.w.I.w. both things I've seen say fuel burn is at the bottom of the porcelain were it meets the threaded portion of the metal. You didn't state what carb you had, but it might worth the spent time calling them and ask about e85 conversion, I'd be willing to bet there's a number of things needing to changed or modified to work properly. If the problem is fuel related, it could be the summer fuel blend?? Looking into that.

I have always used NGK plugs, good quality, never a problem and they clear headers.
