I'm just about ready for my mechanical inspection and then I can register, get plates & drive the car.
I'm replacing the original sending unit on my 1982 and it has what appears to be a condenser mounted right above the sending unit pivot arm.
It's welded on the support arm tube so it is permanent .
The power to the fuel pump runs into one end of this condenser and out the other end and then to the fuel pump.
I have a the new replacement sending unit that comes with out this condenser.
Do I proceed with the install? Or do I have the wrong part?
Thx John

So I'm guessing we're talking about the fuel level sensor, right? Well, we'll go with that. If your new sender comes with out a condenser, one could only assume it's no longer required. A "add on" item on a fuel level sender was probably added by the engineer to eliminate a design flaw. I would use with the new one as-is.
Darn-it. I missed your reply.
I decided the fuel pump worked fine with the old style condenser so I installed it on the new one. I now have a functioning fuel gage.
Thx for the advice.
I don't know what the electrical circuit looks like for that system, but the condenser (capacitor) might be for dampening the movements on the fuel gauge needle.
