70 steering column reassembly HELP
Hey there, I just bought a 70 convertible and the steering column was disassembled long before I got it. Believe I have all the pieces and just wondered if there's any threads with pictures and details on how to reassemble it. Believe it is a non tilt column with tele. Any suggestions?

If you have tele without tilt, you have a one year only 1968 column. All T/T columns 69 and up had both features.
Search the archives for Jim Shea's papers and/or try this link:

Interesting. I didn't know they had a one year column like that. I'm not positive that it is or isn't tele. Just seen a weird plate in a pic of a tele column and figured it would be. Any other way to identify this column for sure? I know it doesn't have tilt

A tele column has a rotating ring under the horn button at the top that moves from about 10:00 to 2:00 to lock or release the adjuster. The finger grip/****/whatever sticks out and is the obvious clue. If you have that and no tilt stalk further down the column from the turn signal arm then you have the '68 column. If that is the case, I personally would find a correct column and sell the one you have to more than cover the replacement cost. Newer T/T columns are not hard to find at all.

Then Easy Mike's advice and the link he gave is the ticket. Jim Shea's articles are 100% golden information so don't overlook that, too.

I'd recommend replacing the turn signal switch and at least this piece

while you are doing the assembly. Chances are you are missing other parts also, but Willcox should have pretty much everything you would need.
